The Social Security Fairness Act, which aims to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), was signed into law on January 5, 2025. Upon implementation, this act will eliminate the reduction of Social Security benefits for individuals who also receive public pensions from work not covered by Social Security. The SSA is currently evaluating how to implement the Act and will provide updates as they become available. |
